Here is a list that just happens to be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the stupid things that have come out of my mouth. Please don't judge me. wink, I'm just trying to keep it real with y'all. Here is a short list of some that spring to mind:
1. "My kids, when I have them, will never act like that."
2. "I will never marry a preacher."
3. " If you are overweight, you must be lazy or lack self-control."
4. "I can't wait until I get out on my own so no one can tell me what to do."
5. "I just love sconces!" Age 20, Trying to seem sophisticated having just seen a scone for the first time.
6. "I'm too busy to pray."
7. "I don't want to take a nap." Wish I could take all those childhood tantrums back.
8. "I'll have a hotdog" Off the gas station roller a few minutes before a rollercoaster experience.
9. " I don't want an epidural, I'm going to do my breathing." Before my first real contraction.
10. "I don't need to write it down, I'll remember".
This list is intended to be light and a little tongue in cheek. But all of these things were actually said by me, and regretted later or proved ridiculous. I've just been thinking lately about perspective and how life experience and maturity can change it. I'm thankful for God's patience and for the patient steadfast love of the people who have helped me learn and grow. I pray that my precious Lord will continue to bring me up in His image and renew my mind in truth. Lord, help me have the mind of Christ and to grow into maturity in wisdom and humility. Let the words I speak to others, as well as to myself, be steeped in truth and edify the hearer. What are some things you've said you wish you had known better than to say?
